NOTE: Please see this thread for the latest (unfortunate) developments regarding Gamepark's consoles.
The GPKiDS is really the poor man's Gamepark console. According to poorly translated reports, the thing could likely retail for something around $70, which is, admittedly, very intriguing. Things get a little more hairy after that. Looking at the specs, one might say, "Hey, this doesn't seem very powerful!" Well, compared to the other new Gamepark/GPH consoles, you're right. But compare it to the GP32--they're very similar
This is because the GPKiDS appears to be basically a drastically smaller version of the GP32, and though there's some confusion here, Gamepark is saying that this will play GP32 software. That means there are hundreds of applications for this already available... or does it? Other reports (again from Gamepark) suggest that it plays GP32 software if someone bothers to compile a GPKiDS version. As I'm not a coder, I can't say how difficult that is. But that would certainly reduce the software library substantially.
According to Gamepark, this thing should be released before the end of the year ("the year" being 2006..). Of course, Gamepark never was one for accurate release dates...
