Gamepark newbie v3

   Software
Sure. It's a pretty console with some nice looking specs, but, as the PSP has so wonderfully demonstrated, a console can only be enjoyed if there's actually something to play on it. But lucky us--the GP2X has a plethora of apps, emulators and homebrew to keep you playing all day (and night) long... or at least until your batteries die. Anyway, these links will provide very good insight on the GP2X's software. This section will be updated with each major software release.

Commercial Games
It's not surprising that an underground, open-source handheld wouldn't have the best commercial support, but there are some. In this section, I'll cover each and every commercial release for the GP2X and provide some useful information and links.

Multimedia
The GP2X is referred to by GPH as a "Personal Entertainment Player." They say "entertainment" because the GP2X is far more than just a game console. In fact, the console's dual core design as largely chosen because it would improve the console's multimedia capabilities. The GP2X is media-ready right out the box, and this section will help you understand just what the platform can do.

Emulation
Just like the GP32, the main draw of the GP2X is the wealth of emulators available for the platform. These emulators essentially turn the GP2X into another device and allows its software to be played on the GP2X. If you still don't get it, just imagine a portable system that can play Alex Kidd, Mario, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, and more, and you'll see why emulators are so exciting.

Homebrew
Watching movies, playing classic games, and the occassional commercial game are great. But what if you're looking for something different? Well, the GP2X is also a popular homebrew platform. These unique game concepts will only be found on one system--the GP2X (unless they get ported, of course).

Interpreters
Formerly shoved into the "Homebrew" section, it became clear that, due to the (now) large volume of interpreters available, they needed a dedicated section. But what's an interpreter? These are apps that let you play those classic computer games that you knew and loved. From Doom to Jazz Jackrabbit to Transport Tycoon Deluxe, this section should not be missed.

Utilities
They're not multimedia, and they certainly aren't games. The best I can do is call these "Utilities." Basically, they're cool and useful applications that improve your GP2X experience. Check them out!
